Job Description:

Are you passionate about shaping young minds and driving educational excellence? We’re seeking a dedicated Deputy Principal to join our team, located in the vibrant community of Kikambala. Reporting directly to the School Head, the Deputy Principal will play a pivotal role in providing professional leadership, supervision, and administrative support to ensure our institution continues to thrive.

Responsibilities:

As Deputy Principal, you will collaborate closely with the School Head to:

1. Assume Leadership: Step into the role of the Principal in their absence, ensuring seamless operations and maintaining continuity in educational standards.

2. Organize Staff Duties: Prepare weekly duty rosters, oversee their implementation, and ensure accountability through weekly reports.

3. Curriculum Oversight: Supervise the interpretation and implementation of the curriculum, ensuring the preparation of schemes of work, lesson plans, and other essential documents.

4. Educational Excellence: Prepare and implement a robust curriculum that fosters students’ confidence, proficiency across subjects, and readiness for Pearson Edexcel International exams.

5. Discipline and Conduct: Uphold a conducive learning environment by maintaining discipline among staff and learners.

6. Assessment and Guidance: Coordinate internal examinations, offer guidance and counseling services, and organize remedial actions to support learners with performance gaps.

7. Mentorship and Induction: Induct and mentor new teachers, ensuring they understand the institution’s rules and culture.

8. Visionary Leadership: Articulate and execute the school’s vision, fostering a strong culture supported by effective systems and structures.

9. Performance Management: Set targets, provide regular feedback, and conduct annual reviews to ensure continuous improvement in teaching and learning standards.

10. Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with parents, education partners, and external stakeholders to enhance the school’s reputation and support its mission.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should possess one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Primary school option)
  • P1 Certificate plus Bachelor’s Degree in Education (High school)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (High school option with primary school experience)

Additionally, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership experience in education, including administration, instruction, assessment, and staff development.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Head of department, senior teacher, or deputy Principal in a reputable institution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on fostering open dialogue among stakeholders.
  • Self-motivation, energy, and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversities and a commitment to inclusive education practices.
  • Critical thinking, creativity, and independence in problem-solving.
  • Experience in delivering Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel A Levels.
  • Registration with the Teacher Service Commission (TSC).
