The Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM), established through the Supplies Practitioners Management Act (SPMA) 2007, is a corporate body mandated to train, register, and license supplies practitioners while regulating their practice. As the National body for Procurement and Supply Chain Professionals in Kenya’s private and public sectors, KISM is seeking a competent and performance-oriented individual to fill the position of Deputy Director, Supply Chain Management (Job Grade: KISM 3).
Job Summary
As the Deputy Director of Supply Chain Management, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, organizing, and overseeing all activities related to the identification, acquisition, production, and distribution of goods and services at KISM.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supply Chain Policies: Overseeing the development, implementation, and review of supply chain management policies, strategies, and programs.
- Procurement: Managing the procurement of goods, services, and works.
- General Supplies: Handling the distribution of general supplies.
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act 2015 and government regulations related to supply chain management activities.
- Asset Disposal: Facilitating the disposal of obsolete stores and equipment.
- Market Surveys: Overseeing market surveys and research.
- Reporting: Ensuring timely submission of quarterly reports to the National Treasury and Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).
Person Specifications
To be eligible for this role, you must have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and Supplies Management, Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Contract Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics Management, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Master’s Degree: Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration (Purchasing and Supplies), or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Professional Certification: CPSP-K or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- KISM Membership: Valid KISM Membership with a current practicing license.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer applications.
- Work Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience, with at least four (4) years at a management level in a comparable organization.
- Management Course: Completion of a management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Competence: Demonstrated professional competence and administrative capability as reflected in work performance and results.
- Leadership and Integrity: Meeting the expectations of Chapter 6 on Leadership and Integrity.
