Job Summary

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is seeking motivated and talented individuals for the position of Data Intern. The role is based in Kisumu & Siaya, where interns will work closely with senior data analysts and researchers to support data management, collection, and processing activities for key projects. Key Responsibilities

As a Data Intern, you will be involved in a variety of tasks designed to strengthen your technical skills and understanding of data management processes. Your primary duties include:

  • Data Collection: Assist in gathering accurate data from various research projects.
  • Data Entry: Ensure the accurate input of data into KEMRI’s databases and software systems.
  • Data Analysis: Perform basic data analysis and contribute to preparing data summaries and reports.
  • Technical Support: Provide ICT support for data management tools, including troubleshooting any issues related to data systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with researchers and other interns to ensure smooth data flow and processing.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records and documentation of data activities in compliance with KEMRI’s research standards.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  1. Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Communication Technology (ICT), Computer Science, Computer Studies, Mathematics, or Statistics from a recognized institution is required.
  2. Kenyan Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan youth aged below 30 years.
  3. Certification: Must have graduated and be in possession of the required academic certificates in the specified fields.
  4. National Identification: Applicants must provide a copy of their National Identity Card (ID).
  5. Clearance: A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the relevant authorities is required.
  6. No Prior Internship: Applicants should not have previously participated in an internship or workplace experience related to their field of study.
  7. Interpersonal Skills: Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  8. Goal-Oriented: Applicants should be dynamic, passionate, self-starters, and goal-oriented individuals.
  9. Integrity: Must be a person of high integrity.
  10. Analytical Skills: Candidates should possess strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large data sets.
  11. Computer Literacy: Applicants must be proficient in computer applications relevant to data management and analysis.
