Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Data Entry Clerk & QC to join our team in Kisumu. The role is essential in ensuring data accuracy, confidentiality, and seamless data entry into our Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems. You will play a critical part in supporting research projects by providing quality control and data management services.

As a Data Entry Clerk & QC, you will be responsible for entering data into databases, performing quality control checks, and collaborating with regulatory staff to ensure data is managed according to VIBRI’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and regulatory guidelines. This position is crucial to ensuring the integrity and completeness of the data used for clinical research and decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Data Entry and Quality Control
    • Perform data entry using various Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems.
    • Develop accurate source materials and ensure compliance from site staff.
    • Conduct ongoing quality control audits to ensure data accuracy.
    • Ensure the confidentiality of sensitive data throughout the data entry process.
  • Data Management and Reporting
    • Provide timely and accurate data collection, entry, and reporting.
    • Ensure that all data is appropriately backed up and stored according to organizational standards.
    • Compile, clean, and transcribe data into the databases, submitting regular data reports to investigators.
  • Technology Support and Troubleshooting
    • Install and configure computer hardware, software systems, and networks as needed.
    • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues and ensure that technology is updated and accessible.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Documentation
    • Support the regulatory team in maintaining regulatory documents in accordance with VIBRI SOP and applicable regulations.
    • Ensure that data management procedures are completed within established timelines.
  • Team Collaboration and Training
    • Work collaboratively with study coordinators and research teams to review and maintain data.
    • Provide training and orientation to new users and staff on relevant technologies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Health Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proficient in statistical packages (STATA, SPSS, Advanced Excel, R, etc.).
  • Fluency in both English and Swahili; Dholuo is an added advantage due to the local setting.

Preferred Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in health information management and database management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
