REPORTS TO: Programme Manager

LOCATIONS: Homa Bay, Siaya, Busia, Kilifi, Kisumu, and Kakamega Counties

JOB SUMMARY

As a Project Assistant within our Development Division, you will spearhead activities and initiatives focused on Financial Inclusion and Community Resilience at the county level. Your role will involve training, credit provision, advocacy, client engagement, reporting, and more.

KEY TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Training:

  • Assist in training on Financial, Aquaculture, and Climate Change Adaptation programs for women and communities.
  • Provide training on group formation, dynamics, and capacity enhancement for effective participation in financial inclusion initiatives.
  • Offer financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills training.

Credit Provision:

  • Disburse loans of various products to women groups as per budget allocations.
  • Conduct financial health checks post-financial support to ensure effective financial management.
  • Assess businesses of eligible women groups for the Revolving Loan Fund.

Advocacy and Networking:

  • Facilitate market linkages for beneficiaries.
  • Assist in lobbying and advocating for women-responsive laws and policies on financial inclusion.
  • Build linkages with informal sectors to train on savings schemes.

Client Engagement:

  • Contribute to the development of a policy for the Revolving Loan Fund.
  • Document success stories within communities.
  • Map new women groups for continuous growth.
  • Manage and update County Contact Database.
  • Mobilize participants and stakeholders for program meetings and forums.

Reporting:

  • Prepare documentation for Financial and Programmatic reporting in collaboration with ENA’s County Local Implementing Partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

ACADEMIC: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Co-operative Business, Social Studies, Economics, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in reputable financial institutions.
  • Practical experience in conducting needs assessments and analysis of microfinance clients.
  • At least 2 years related experience in report writing and program planning and implementation.

PROFESSIONAL/ FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to evaluate businesses and business plans.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
  • Strong presentation, training, and facilitation skills.
  • Mobilization and coordination skills.
