Community Facilitator – Lokichoggio & Turkana North

Introduction:

We’re seeking dedicated individuals who are passionate about community development to fill two positions as Community Facilitators. If you’re a resident of Lokichoggio or Kibish sub-counties in Turkana County, this could be your opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community.

Job Summary:

As a Community Facilitator, you will play a crucial role in supporting DCA-led financial inclusion activities in Turkana County. Reporting to the Project Assistant: Financial Inclusion, you’ll be responsible for community mobilization, training, and facilitating the formation of Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs). Your efforts will contribute to empowering local communities and fostering economic resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Mobilization and Organization

  • Lead community mobilization efforts and establish strong relationships with local leaders.
  • Conduct awareness campaigns and sensitization activities on DCA projects.
  • Support project participants in accessing and utilizing digital learning platforms.

Technical Support and Training

  • Mentor and coach project participants in developing business plans and assignments.
  • Identify capacity gaps and provide relevant training to project participants.
  • Facilitate entrepreneurship and basic business skill training sessions.
  • Assist in market assessment and identification of focus value chains.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Conduct regular follow-up visits to VSLAs and entrepreneurship participants.
  • Track progress of savings groups and businesses to ensure targets are met.
  • Collect data from savings groups and businesses on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare and submit monthly progress reports in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Certificate/diploma in business, entrepreneurship, social work, or related field.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in conducting financial inclusion or entrepreneurship training.
  • Proficiency in using adult learning methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent command of Ng’aturkana, English, and Swahili languages.
  • Strong facilitation and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to travel within Turkana County for project activities.
