Job Description

As a Community Development Officer, you’ll be an integral part of our team, working under the guidance of the Deputy Field Coordinator. Your role will be to provide technical expertise in community engagement, empowering local authorities and beneficiaries to actively participate in project design, planning, implementation, evaluation, and exit strategies. Here’s how you’ll contribute:

I. Summary of Position

Purpose:

  • Effectively facilitate Action Against Hunger activities at the community level, ensuring communities are empowered to participate in every phase of our projects.
  • Strengthen relationships between ACF and all stakeholders at the county level through networking, cooperation, communication, and collaboration.

Engagement:

  • Foster communication and collaboration with the local community, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead project mobilization and sensitization efforts, representing Action Against Hunger in external meetings.
  • Collaborate with sector-level focal persons to plan and implement community-level interventions.
  • Document project interventions and outcomes at the community level.

Delivery:

  • Gather community CRM (complaint response mechanism) data and share it with the meal coordinator.
  • Conduct quarterly review meetings for ongoing projects and share outcomes with project officers.
  • Analyze data from community structures and prepare reports.
  • Support the design and promotion of community-level knowledge products.

II. Essential Job Duties

  1. Coordination of Community Level Capacity Building (25%)
    • Identify training and capacity-building needs.
    • Develop training plans and workshops.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts.
    • Monitor and evaluate capacity-building initiatives.
  2. Lead in Community Level Activities’ Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (15%)
    • Design and implement monitoring and evaluation systems.
    • Collect data on project progress.
    • Analyze community-level data.
    • Prepare and present reports on monitoring findings.
    • Coordinate documentation of community-level learning.
  3. Coordinate Community Level Mobilization (25%)
    • Develop and execute mobilization strategies.
    • Organize and facilitate community meetings and workshops.
    • Collaborate with community leaders and influencers.
    • Foster a sense of ownership among community members.
  4. Support Program Staff in Implementation of Community Level Activities (15%)
    • Ensure alignment of community-level activities with project goals.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to program staff.
    • Address challenges during implementation.
    • Contribute to program reports.
  5. Building Partnerships with Project Stakeholders and Partners (10%)
    • Expand cooperation between communities and local authorities.
    • Act as a liaison between the community and stakeholders.
    • Communicate project updates to relevant stakeholders.
    • Participate in coordination meetings.
    • Collaborate to leverage resources for community-level activities.
    • Proactively contribute to knowledge sharing and planning.
  6. Branding, Communication, and Visibility (5%)
    • Ensure project activities are well-branded.
    • Capture high-quality images/videos for communication.
  7. Any Other Duty (5%)
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
