As the Communications Manager, you will be a part of the leadership team shaping PRSK’s image and engagement with both internal and external stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic organization that plays a pivotal role in communications across Kenya.


Position Summary

The Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing PRSK’s communication strategies. This role requires a creative leader who can manage media relations, digital content, and brand positioning to elevate the Society’s visibility. The Communications Manager will also oversee internal communications to ensure PRSK’s members are fully informed and engaged.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the Society’s overall communication strategy.
  • Manage media relations, including handling press releases, opinion pieces, and interviews.
  • Lead PRSK’s social media strategy, enhancing engagement and visibility on various platforms.
  • Collaborate on the production of internal publications such as newsletters and annual reports.
  • Represent PRSK in external communications and networking events.
  • Provide guidance to the Communications Officer and ensure high-quality content production.
  • Support resource mobilization and event coverage to promote PRSK’s initiatives.
  • Manage brand consistency across all channels.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Membership in professional bodies such as PRSK or CIPR is advantageous.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in communications, with strong digital marketing skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in media relations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in content creation, writing, and editing.
  • Ability to lead projects independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strategic Communication: Ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans that align with the organization’s objectives.
  • Media Relations: Proven ability to maintain positive relationships with journalists and media houses, ensuring PRSK’s reputation is well-managed.

  • Writing and Editing: High proficiency in writing press releases, articles, and marketing copy for various platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Internal and External Communications

  • Internal Communications: Ensure smooth and effective communication within the Society, keeping members informed of developments, projects, and initiatives.
  • External Communications: Represent PRSK in external forums, conferences, and events. Develop partnerships with external stakeholders to advance PRSK’s mission.

2. Communication Strategy and Brand Management

  • Develop and implement PRSK’s communication strategy and ensure alignment with the organization’s brand image.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all platforms, including media, social media, and digital channels.

3. Media Relations and Thought Leadership

  • Monitor and manage media interactions, ensuring that PRSK is positively represented in all engagements.
  • Craft press releases, opinion pieces, and media statements that reinforce PRSK’s position as a leader in public relations in Kenya.
  • Build relationships with key media outlets and ensure PRSK receives appropriate media coverage.

4. Event Coverage and Social Media Management

  • Provide comprehensive event coverage for PRSK’s conferences, seminars, and other professional events.
  • Manage PRSK’s social media platforms, curating content that aligns with the Society’s brand and values.
  • Regularly update PRSK’s website with current content, news, and events.

5. Publications and Coordination

  • Collaborate with the editorial team to produce PRSK’s regular publications, including newsletters, corporate reports, and journal entries.
  • Oversee the production of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, ensuring the dissemination of useful and informative content to the Society’s members.

6. Resource Mobilization Support

  • Work closely with the Resource Mobilization team to design and execute communication strategies that support fundraising and sponsorship efforts.
  • Communicate the value and impact of PRSK’s initiatives to potential sponsors and partners.

7. Supervision and Appraisal

  • Oversee the daily tasks of the Communications Officer, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of communication materials from the team.
