Overview

Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey of visual storytelling and communication? Jhpiego Kenya is seeking a dynamic Communications Intern to join our team. As a vital member of the Global Engagement and Communications Office (GECO), you will play a pivotal role in documenting and showcasing Jhpiego’s impactful projects in maternal/newborn health, nutrition, immunization, HIV/TB, community mobilization, family planning, water and sanitation, mHealth, and gender-based violence and child protection issues. Collaborating closely with Ministries of Health, local health officers, and partners, your efforts will contribute to building the capacity of healthcare providers and community health workers while promoting healthier habits and behaviors in communities.

Responsibilities

As a Communications Intern, you will be at the forefront of capturing and sharing Jhpiego’s remarkable work. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Comprehensive Strategy Development Partner with the Jhpiego-Kenya communications team to create and execute a robust strategy for internal and external relations, communications, and publications.

2. Captivating Storytelling Immerse yourself in field activities to craft compelling stories and narratives that encapsulate the essence of Jhpiego’s projects for the website and beyond.

3. Media Collaboration Collaborate with media outlets to amplify the impact of Jhpiego’s initiatives by sharing our narratives with a wider audience.

4. Reader-Friendly Content Creation Craft narratives and program information in an engaging and reader-friendly manner for the Jhpiego website, Jhpiego Quarterly newsletter, and other communication channels.

5. Program Descriptions and Talking Points Develop program descriptions and talking points to equip our staff for successful engagement with media and public events.

6. Multi-Platform Content Development Generate program content suitable for various media outlets and social networking sites, expanding the reach of Jhpiego’s work.

7. Event Coordination Assist in coordinating public affairs, media, and external events to enhance Jhpiego’s visibility and impact.

Required Qualifications

  • Recent graduation with a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and an eagerness to learn in a fast-paced and competitive industry.
