Title: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Institution of Engineers of Kenya

The Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our esteemed organization into a new era of innovation and impact. As the CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of IEK, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to our members and the engineering community at large.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the mission and objectives of IEK, in alignment with industry trends and regulatory requirements.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, academia, and professional bodies, to promote the interests of IEK and the engineering profession.
  3. Organizational Management: Provide effective leadership and oversight to all departments within IEK, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and innovation.
  4. Financial Management: Ensure prudent financial management and sustainability of IEK through sound budgeting, resource allocation, and revenue generation strategies.
  5. Advocacy and Representation: Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for IEK, representing the organization in public forums, media engagements, and industry events.
  6. Member Services: Enhance member engagement and satisfaction by delivering value-added services, professional development opportunities, and networking platforms.
  7. Governance and Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as adherence to IEK’s governance policies and procedures.
  8. Innovation and Growth: Drive innovation initiatives and explore new avenues for growth and diversification to enhance IEK’s relevance and impact in the engineering sector.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven track record of executive leadership in a membership-based organization, professional association, or similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of the engineering profession, regulatory frameworks, and industry dynamics in Kenya and beyond.
  • Excellent strategic planning, organizational development, and change management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities, with a demonstrated ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Sound financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical leadership, integrity, and inclusivity.
