Job Summary

Our client, a leading savings and credit cooperative society with regional satellite offices across the country, is seeking a focused, results-driven, and highly motivated individual to fill the role of Chief Commercial Manager. Based in Nairobi, this pivotal position will involve the development and execution of the Society’s commercial strategy, driving growth, profitability, and delivering unparalleled value to members. Key Responsibilities

As the Chief Commercial Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping the commercial landscape of the Society. Your responsibilities will include:

Strategic Leadership

  • Liaise with Other Departmental Managers: Collaborate with departmental heads to develop a comprehensive business development strategy that aligns with the Society’s Vision and Strategic Direction.
  • Policy and Framework Development: Formulate and implement policy, procedures, and process frameworks for new business acquisitions and opportunities.
  • Innovation and Product Development: Lead the development of new products and concepts, ensuring their successful execution.

Business Development

  • Networking: Build and sustain strong relationships with customers, industry players, and key stakeholders to support the Society’s business goals.
  • Initiative Implementation: Roll out new business initiatives in line with the corporate strategy.
  • Economic Modelling: Conduct business and economic modelling to assess the viability of investment proposals and their impact on the long-term sustainability of the Society.

Regulatory and Market Engagement

  • Policy Influence: Ensure active participation in the formulation of Government policies affecting the SACCO subsector.
  • Market Research: Enhance product marketability through continuous research and innovation.

Customer Experience and Performance Management

  • Quality Service Delivery: Oversee the delivery of a superior customer experience.
  • Performance Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive performance management system.

Reporting and Human Resource Management

  • Reporting: Prepare briefs and reports for the CEO and the Board of Management.
  • Talent Management: Work closely with the HR department to ensure the availability of top talent within the Commercial Division.

Financial and Budgetary Management

  • Budget Oversight: Manage divisional budgets to support the Society’s strategic objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Promote business synergy, innovation, and new product development through cross-functional team collaboration.

Public Relations and Branding

  • Brand Equity Enhancement: Coordinate the implementation of media and public relations strategies to enhance corporate image and brand equity.
  • Marketing Initiatives: Lead the Society’s marketing efforts to drive growth and member engagement.

Academic Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for the role of Chief Commercial Manager, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: In Marketing, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or any other business-related field from a recognized institution.
  • Master’s Degree: In a relevant field from a recognized institution is highly preferred.
  • Professional Membership: Active membership with local, regional, or global professional bodies such as the Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK), Chartered Institute of Marketers (CIM), or Kenya Institute of Management (KIM).
  • Experience: A minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience in strategy and business development, with at least 5 years in senior management, preferably within a SACCO environment.

Technical Skills

  • Strategic Business Development: Proven ability in developing and implementing business strategies, including quantitative analysis, conceptualization, and communication of strategic solutions.
  • Sales Expertise: A marketer with a strong track record of closing significant sales deals.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Banking and SACCO laws and regulations.
  • Financial Acumen: Competency in financial management, including the ability to interpret financial reports.
  • Marketing and Branding: Working knowledge of marketing communications, branding, customer relationship management, and other relevant business concepts.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in managing projects from inception to successful completion.

Employment Terms
