Job Summary

The Canteen Commis plays a critical role in our culinary team, responsible for food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring a positive and professional work environment. This role requires flexibility, a positive attitude, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations

• Attend Daily Shift Briefings: Stay informed about daily operational requirements.
• Communicate with Supervisors: Ensure open lines of communication to facilitate smooth operations.
• Promote Work Environment: Encourage a fun, professional, and disciplined work environment.
• Share Ideas: Actively contribute ideas, opinions, and suggestions during daily shift briefings.

Personal Presentation

• Uniform and Grooming: Always present yourself in a full chef’s uniform, adhering to all personal hygiene and grooming standards.

Support and Motivation

• Team Support: Support and motivate kitchen colleagues.
• Menu Design: Design themed menus as needed.
• Meal Preparation: Cook meals for Heartist.

Kitchen Management

• Kitchen Operations: Manage kitchen operations and plan menus and meals accordingly.
• Sanitation: Maintain proper sanitary conditions, including cleaning utensils, equipment, and facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a food production environment.
• Training: Food Hygiene and Safety trained.
• Communication Skills: Strong communication skills are essential.
• Attitude: Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
• Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple tasks in an intense, ever-changing environment.
• Flexibility: Available to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Reliability: Highly responsible and reliable.
• Pressure Handling: Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Teamwork: Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team.
