Position: Business Development Officer (BDO) – Ref: BDO 08/23

As a Business Development Officer, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our outreach, marketing our products, and recruiting customers. Your responsibilities will include loan processing, timely collections, and ensuring a robust and satisfied customer base. Join us in fostering financial growth and improving lives in our community.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Marketing and Outreach

  • Champion the marketing of our bank’s products and services.
  • Drive customer growth while adhering to onboarding policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate client recruitment and group registration.
  • Conduct client training on SMEP policies, basic business skills, loans, and more.

2. Loan Management

  • Ensure timely repayment of loans and client savings.
  • Evaluate client businesses for loan worthiness.
  • Handle loan processing and client evaluations.

3. Portfolio Management

  • Maintain a high-quality asset portfolio per bank requirements.
  • Record and assess chattels offered as loan collateral.
  • Monitor arrears and follow up with defaulters.

4. Customer Service and Reporting

  • Uphold excellent customer service to retain clients.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports to meet bank requirements.

Qualifications and Qualities:

  • Strong alignment with Christian values and a commitment to positive transformation.
  • Minimum KCSE grade of C+.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business-related fields.
  • Proficiency in Sales, Marketing, credit risk management, and banking operations.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to analyze financial statements.
  • Understanding of microfinance/banking industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Team player with a proactive approach.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently.
