Job Overview

KCIC Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our team in Nairobi, Kenya. This senior-level role offers the opportunity to develop and execute business strategies, drive revenue growth, and lead key business development initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Business Development Manager will play a crucial role in expanding our client base, services, and overall market presence.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

• Formulate a comprehensive business development strategy for KCIC Consulting Group, aligning it with the company’s vision and goals.
• Identify new business leads through thorough market research and intelligence.
• Focus on acquiring new clients by identifying consulting opportunities through public notices, websites, and interactions with potential clients.
• Undertake strategic networking initiatives with current and potential clients, including priority donors, corporations, civil society organizations, and philanthropic entities.
• Stay updated with sector advancements by identifying new products and services in demand.
• Prepare high-quality proposals and conceptualize innovative fundraising strategies.
• Analyze emerging trends to provide actionable insights for business strategy development.
• Familiarize with international donor models and local regulations to ensure compliance in all business dealings.

Brand Building

• Position KCIC Consulting Group as a leading advisory firm by showcasing best practices, key achievements, and project closures.
• Map and analyze both internal and external stakeholders, formulating strategies to build lasting relationships.
• Support digital outreach strategies by managing content distribution across social media, website, and internal channels.
• Oversee communication content and ensure consistency across all messaging and marketing collateral, adhering to KCIC’s standards.
• Develop and maintain standard templates and tools to support various practice areas.

Team Leadership and Organizational Development

• Build and lead a high-performing team dedicated to delivering measurable results.
• Mentor and coach team members, providing regular feedback and development opportunities.
• Seek continuous feedback from clients to refine approaches and improve deliverables.
• Drive knowledge management efforts by documenting lessons learned and best practices.

Qualifications

Academic Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Photoshop.

Work Experience

• 8+ years of experience in business development, with at least 2 years in a consulting role.
• Proven experience in creating and maintaining a pipeline of business opportunities.
• Strong understanding of donor requirements and compliance regulations.
• Experience in grant proposal writing is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, with a background in journalism being an advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across all levels of the organization.
