Role Description

Position: Business Development Manager – Diaspora Banking and Remittances
Reporting to: Head – Diaspora Banking

As the Business Development Manager for Diaspora Banking and Remittances, your primary responsibility will be to drive the growth of the Diaspora Banking portfolio (Assets and Liabilities). You will play a crucial role in meeting the needs of our valued Diaspora customers and ensuring their satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Aggressive Customer Base Expansion

  • Spearhead the growth of the Diaspora client base.
  • Focus on retaining existing customers while increasing their product holdings.

2. Product Penetration and Utilization

  • Boost the penetration and utilization of all bank products among Diaspora customers.
  • Continuously review and innovate appropriate products for different Diaspora regions.

3. Customer-Centric Propositions

  • Develop customer-focused solutions, enhancing customer experience, and offering valuable products and services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure exceptional sales and service performance.

4. Strategic Partnerships

  • Identify and establish key partnerships for local and international growth.
  • Support the formation of Groups and Saccos for Diaspora clients.

5. Effective Customer Engagement

  • Create impactful touch points for Diaspora clients, whether remotely or in person.
  • Build advisory relationships with Diaspora clients, providing high-quality guidance.

6. Innovative Market Analysis

  • Analyze global market trends to enhance products and services for Diaspora customers.
  • Drive continuous improvement of products and services offerings.

7. Agent Recruitment and Management

  • Lead the recruitment of agents in various Diaspora markets.
  • Coordinate agent training and monitor their performance.

8. Risk Management and Compliance

  • Handle Diaspora customer transactions while adhering to bank policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure operational risk and fraud prevention.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of sales experience.
  • Strong background in relationship management, customer service, credit analysis, and administration.
  • Experience in Retail, Corporate, Treasury, Mortgage products, digital marketing, and money transfer services.
  • Professional qualifications (KIB/ACIB/CPA/ACCA) are a plus.
  • MBA is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative team player with a focus on results and target achievement.
  • Demonstrated sales, networking, and influencing skills.
  • Sound understanding of operational risk and quality.
