Role Overview: Business Development Associate
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team and contribute to expanding our portfolio across existing and new geographies. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in business development, research, or a related field, along with at least 3 years of experience working in an international organization, research institute, consultancy, or university setting. This role will provide the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to high-level decision-making while growing professionally in a respected global organization.
Your Responsibilities
As a Business Development Associate, you will:
- Contribute to Business Development Strategy: Assist in the development and execution of our business development strategy, driving growth in both current and new markets.
- Market Research: Conduct targeted market research to identify new business opportunities and tender prospects, ensuring Voluntās stays ahead of industry trends.
- Client Engagement: Represent Voluntās in meetings with potential clients, forging strong relationships and identifying opportunities for collaboration.
- Proposal Preparation: Draft technical and financial proposals that align with client needs, showcasing Voluntās’ capabilities and expertise.
- Create Pitching Materials: Develop high-quality pitching presentations and other materials that effectively communicate Voluntās’ value proposition.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, product development, and operations teams to achieve organizational objectives.
- Mentoring and Support: Provide mentorship and support to junior staff across different offices, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, market dynamics, and best practices in business development and the international development sector.
Main Competencies and Skills
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:
- Proven Business Development Success: A track record of securing deals in international settings, including working with international organizations, consultancies, or universities.
- Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market conditions, create effective project designs, and draft clear, concise documents.
- Proposal Development Expertise: Skilled at converting funding conversations into tangible opportunities by preparing high-quality proposals.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Intellectual curiosity combined with a strong ability to approach challenges with creative, results-driven solutions.
- Self-Motivation and Independence: Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with global teams across offices.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Proficiency in written and spoken English, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency: Strong command of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree: A master’s degree in a relevant field (business, international relations, development studies, etc.) is required.
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is required. Additional language skills are an advantage.
- Experience with International Donors: Familiarity with large bi- and multilateral donor programs or procurement tenders is a plus.
- Graphic Design Skills: Experience with visualization and graphic design tools is advantageous for creating engaging materials.
