Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) is a dynamic social impact organization committed to fostering innovation in the climate space. With a focus on supporting micro and small enterprises, KCIC provides incubation, capacity-building services, and financing to Kenyan entrepreneurs contributing to renewable energy, energy efficiency, water management, agribusiness, waste management, and commercial forestry. Currently, KCIC is implementing GreenBiz, a strategic program supported by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), emphasizing the commercialization and scaling up of climate-smart innovations. GreenBiz aims to create jobs, enhance access to low carbon energy, build resilience to climate change, and offer environmental and social benefits.

Job Summary

As we expand our team, KCIC is seeking two dynamic Business Analysts based in Nairobi. The Business Analysts play a pivotal role in supporting entrepreneurs (KCIC clients) to become bankable and investor-ready. Through tailored technical assistance, business advisory services, training, coaching, and strategic connections, Business Analysts contribute to the growth and success of startups, SMEs, and Community Based Organizations.

Responsibilities

1. Strategic Business Advisory:

  • Provide client-tailored business advisory and financial analysis support.
  • Conduct client baseline/assessments to ensure alignment with program requirements.

2. Entrepreneurial Support:

  • Nurture early-stage enterprises through feasibility studies, product development, and revenue generation.
  • Conduct research, knowledge sharing, and data collection for monitoring and evaluation.

3. Financial Planning and Growth:

  • Develop financial models to foster enterprise growth and scalability.
  • Assist portfolio clients in creating bankable business plans and investment proposals.

4. Mentorship and Training:

  • Analyze business needs and propose mentorship solutions.
  • Identify and facilitate business training programs for clients.

5. Profile Promotion and Reporting:

  • Identify events for profile promotion and lead generation.
  • Maintain and monitor work schedules for periodic reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business-related courses.
  • Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, and CFA are desirable.

Experience:

  • Over 3 years’ experience in business development, strategic consulting, or technical business assistance.
  • Familiarity with startup, early-stage entrepreneurs, Community Based Organizations, and Self-Help Groups.
  • Experience in critical business analysis, investment plans, and financial statements.
  • Knowledge of the Climate Change sector is an added advantage.
