Key Responsibilities:

As a Biomedical Science Intern at KEMRI, you will be involved in various tasks that contribute to ongoing research projects, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting in laboratory experiments related to biomedical research and medical laboratory science.
  • Supporting senior researchers in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Conducting routine laboratory tests under supervision, following standard operating procedures.
  • Documenting findings and preparing reports for ongoing research projects.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring a clean, organized workspace.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing ideas to improve research methodologies.
  • Adhering to all ethical guidelines and health and safety protocols within the laboratory environment.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  • Diploma in Biomedical Science and Technology, Biological Sciences, or Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
  • Be a Kenyan youth below 30 years of age.
  • Must have graduated and be in possession of the relevant diploma certificates.
  • Valid National ID card.
  • Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • Must not have previous internship or workplace experience in the same field.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Goal-oriented, dynamic, and a self-starter.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Must be registered with a relevant professional body and possess a valid practicing license (if applicable).

Preferred Qualifications:

While not mandatory, the following qualifications are preferred and will give candidates an edge:

  • Prior experience in volunteer programs or community outreach in healthcare.
  • Basic knowledge of research methodologies.
  • Experience using statistical software for data analysis.
