Role Summary

Our client, a reputable NGO operating a secondary school in Narok County, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Biology & Chemistry Teacher to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in cultivating a profound appreciation for science among students and fostering a deep understanding of biological and chemical concepts. As an educator, you will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging and interactive learning experiences that accommodate diverse student needs and learning styles.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Instructional Planning: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging instructional activities in Biology and Chemistry.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop comprehensive schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with curriculum objectives.
  • Technological Integration: Utilize relevant technology to enhance and differentiate instruction.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Assess and record student progress, providing grades and constructive feedback.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze assessment data to inform teaching strategies and identify areas for student improvement.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain discipline and create a positive learning environment according to school policies.
  • Student Support: Monitor and encourage student progress, providing academic and personal development guidance.
  • Professional Development: Participate in professional development to stay updated on educational trends and best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, participating in departmental and school meetings, and contributing to school events.
  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Support and participate in school events and extra-curricular activities.

Desired Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in Biology and Chemistry or a related field.
  • Certification: Teaching certification recognized by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) of Kenya.
  • Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in both biology and chemistry, with strong pedagogical skills.
  • Experience: Prior experience in teaching, tutoring, or facilitating biology and chemistry education at various levels.

  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in using technology for teaching, including online learning platforms and educational software.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain high teaching standards.
  • Passion for Teaching: Genuine passion for inspiring a love of learning in students, with creativity and patience.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to accommodate different learning styles and adapt to evolving educational landscapes.
