AAA-Growers Limited, a leading Kenyan exporter of vegetables, flowers, and avocados, seeks an experienced Auto Motor Vehicle Electrician to join the team at Simba Farm in Rumuruti. This is an onsite role with a focus on maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing automotive electrical systems on various vehicles, including agricultural equipment. You will be instrumental in ensuring the operational efficiency of the company’s fleet.
Key Responsibilities
As an Auto Motor Vehicle Electrician, you will:
- Diagnose and undertake electrical repairs on vehicles, tractors, and agricultural equipment based on job cards.
- Service, identify, and repair faults in electronically controlled systems, including:
- Electronic fuel injection
- Electronic ignition
- Anti-lock braking systems
- Automatic transmissions
- Airbags
- Air conditioning systems
- Install electrical equipment such as gauges, lighting systems, alternators, and starter motors.
- Fit electrically operated accessories, including radios, heating systems, driving lamps, and anti-theft devices.
- Interpret circuit diagrams and utilize diagnostic tools to identify and resolve electrical issues.
- Recondition or replace alternators, generators, starter motors, voltage regulators, and batteries.
- Repair or replace faulty electrical components such as wiring, fuses, lamps, and switches.
- Complete documentation, including inspection sheets and job cards.
- Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste and adhere to Health and Safety regulations.
- Attend to vehicle breakdowns and assist with tasks in other workshop sections.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality and safety compliance.
- Maintain accountability for electrical stock, including workshop and equipment batteries.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you must meet the following criteria:
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Specialized training or certification in automotive electrical systems.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience as an Automotive Electrician or in a similar role, preferably handling diverse vehicles such as tractors, trucks, and buses.
- Expertise in diagnosing and repairing advanced electronic vehicle systems.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and circuit diagrams.
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools, meters, and test instruments.
- Adept at installing and repairing electrical systems and accessories.
Other Skills:
- Strong focus on quality and safety.
- Excellent communication skills for effective documentation.
- Problem-solving skills for attending to breakdowns and assisting in multi-disciplinary tasks.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
