APRON CONTROLLER TRAINEE (30 VACANCIES)

Position: Apron Controller
Location: Nairobi
Job Purpose
The Apron Controller Trainee will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless and safe movement of aircraft on the apron area by utilizing radio telephony communication to maintain orderly air traffic flow.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
i. Aircraft Marshalling and Movement:
- Guide aircraft in and out of aircraft bays and parking spaces, facilitating efficient flight turnaround schedules.
- Inspect the bay for any Foreign Object Debris (FODs) to enhance safety for passengers, ground crew, and equipment.
ii. Operational Proficiency:
- Operate Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) to facilitate precise aircraft positioning.
- Utilize lead service vehicle (Follow Me Car) for aircraft movement coordination.
iii. Flight Guidance and Control:
- Safely guide flights into and out of designated bays using International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
- Ensure adherence to airside operations safety standards and internationally recognized aviation regulations.
iv. Passenger Safety and Services:
- Manage passenger boarding bridges for secure embarking and disembarking.
- Maintain a safe environment for passenger movement on the apron.
v. Data Management and Reporting:
- Record air traffic movement in Airport Operations Database (AODB) and Daily Aircraft Movement Records (DAMR).
- Collect data on aircraft handled for management insights.
vi. Safety and Compliance:
- Inspect the apron area for hazards, oil spillages, and other safety risks.
- Enforce airside safety regulations and international standards.
vii. Communication and Incident Reporting:
- Utilize aeronautical radio telephony communication to marshal and monitor aircraft movement.
- Report incidents and accidents promptly for necessary action.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Grade C or equivalent.
- Basic Training in Airside Safety Operations.
- Ground Flight Safety working experience is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Computer applications.
- Age not exceeding 26 years (Born from January 1997).
Skills and Competencies
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.

- Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
- Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
- Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
- Clearance from the Ethics & Anti-corruption Authority (EACC).
- Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
Certificates should be current and valid. The self-declaration Form from EACC should specify the applied position.
