Job Summary

As an Analyst – Business Intelligence, you will be a pivotal member of CIFF’s Digital Technology Services (DTS) Team, responsible for managing our business applications and enhancing our systems and processes to ensure they remain efficient and relevant. This role involves leading data-driven initiatives using the Microsoft suite (Power BI, Azure, Power Platforms) to create interactive dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights, empowering our teams to make informed decisions.

You will work closely with the Product Manager, DTS team, and various global functions to design, develop, and maintain data models, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the information presented. Your contributions will support CIFF’s strategic goals and missions, ultimately helping us scale our impact.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

Designing and Developing Reports and Dashboards

• Understand Business Requirements: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Data Modeling: Design data models that align with business needs, enabling the creation of visualizations that drive decision-making.
• Visualizations: Develop clear and impactful dashboards and reports using Power BI, ensuring they are user-friendly and provide actionable insights.

Delivery and Performance

Data Management

• ETL Processes: Manage data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) to ensure data sets are clean, accurate, and ready for analysis.
• Power BI Expertise: Stay updated on the latest features and trends in Power BI and apply them to optimize report performance.
• Troubleshooting: Proactively identify and resolve issues in Power BI reports, ensuring uninterrupted data flow.

Ensure Data Accuracy

• Validation and Quality Checks: Implement rigorous quality checks to ensure the data in reports is accurate and reliable.
• Version Control: Maintain version control of reports and create technical documentation to ensure consistency and traceability.

Stakeholder and Partner Management

Collaborating with Stakeholders

• Understand Stakeholder Needs: Work closely with various teams to gather requirements and deliver tailored data solutions.
• Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, DTS staff, vendors, and other professionals to ensure seamless project execution.
• Vendor Coordination: Support vendors in resolving technical issues during the development and maintenance of ETL processes and data visualizations.

• Dashboard Usage: Train end-users on how to effectively use dashboards and reports, helping them make data-driven decisions.

• Power BI Training: Empower users by teaching them to build simple Power BI reports, enhancing their ability to generate insights independently.

Skills & Experience

Required:

• Data and Analytics: Proven experience in data analytics, including building reports and dashboards using Power BI.
• Data Visualization: Strong understanding of contemporary data visualization techniques, with experience in Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Data Modeling: Expertise in data modeling, ensuring that data structures support business needs.
• SQL Proficiency: Ability to manipulate and extract data using SQL.
• Data Warehouse Knowledge: Familiarity with data warehouse concepts.
• Azure and SQL: Essential experience with Microsoft Azure and SQL.
• Agile Methodologies: Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, or Kanban development methodologies.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical abilities and a creative approach to problem-solving.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

• Certifications: Certifications in Power BI or related technologies.
• Advanced Skills: Experience with Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), JavaScript, and API backends.
• Software Design: Understanding of how software design relates to overall system architecture.
• Microsoft Dynamics Experience: Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Fluxx (Grant Management System).
• Azure Platform Expertise: Proficiency in Azure Portal, Data Factory, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, DevOps, and Visual Studio.
• Power Platform: Experience with Power Automate/Flow and Power Apps.
• Financial Knowledge: Basic understanding of financial language and concepts.
