Job Summary:

As the Public Communications and Engagement Officer, you’ll be instrumental in crafting and implementing innovative communication strategies. Your role involves leveraging various platforms to amplify our human rights message, fostering dialogue, and building a robust supporter base aligned with our organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Innovatively develop communication approaches to broaden engagement and connect with diverse audiences.
• Curate compelling content across our social media channels to amplify our advocacy efforts.
• Contribute to the creation and dissemination of our quarterly newsletters, showcasing key achievements and media coverage.
• Spearhead the production of thought-provoking podcasts featuring rights experts and activists.
• Maintain and enhance the user experience of the Amnesty International Kenya website.
• Diversify content formats, including infomercials, animations, reels, and comics.
• Assist staff and our Circles of Conscience in packaging content for public consumption.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, gender studies, or related fields.
• 3-5 years of experience in website administration, communications, or social media management, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
• Proficiency in social media management, content creation, and digital storytelling.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
• Excellent writing and visualization skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in design tools like Canva and Photoshop.
• Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management systems and website CMS.
• Ability to thrive in a multicultural environment and manage multiple projects effectively.
• Understanding of digital copywriting, publishing, and SEO principles.
