Job Purpose

Are you a dedicated professional seeking to make a significant impact? We are looking for an Airport Engineer to collaborate closely with the Trust Secretary to the Board of Trustees. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in crafting and refining policies and procedures, ensuring strict adherence to the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) Act 1997 and Regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

i. Member Benefits Management

  • Streamlining and executing member enrollment and departure processes, ensuring prompt processing and payment of all benefits.
  • Overseeing the timely collection and transmission of members’ and employer contributions to the Custodian.

ii. Financial Statement Preparation

  • Preparing annual balance statements for members and facilitating their submission as required.

iii. Board Support

  • Providing essential secretariat services to the Board of Trustees, assisting in the management of staff superannuation schemes.

iv. Scheme Oversight

  • Directing the daily operations of superannuation schemes, ensuring smooth functioning.

v. Property Management

  • Ensuring timely collection and submission of property rentals to the Custodian for investment.
  • Regularly inspecting the property to ensure its proper upkeep and management.

vi. Administration

  • Overseeing the internal administration of staff pension schemes and post-retirement medical funds, ensuring beneficiaries receive their due benefits according to Trust Deed and Rules.

vii. Beneficiary Management

  • Assisting the Board of Trustees and Administrator in identifying rightful beneficiaries and managing required documentation for benefit payouts.

viii. Resolution Implementation

  • Ensuring effective follow-up on Board of Trustees’ resolutions.

ix. Member Education

  • Organizing educational sessions and seminars for fund members, promoting awareness and post-retirement planning.

x. AGM Coordination

  • Orchestrating annual general meetings for members, ensuring timely distribution of accurate Annual Financial Statements.

xi. Compliance Assurance

  • Managing schemes in full compliance with Trust Deed, Rules, and legislative mandates.

xii. Legislative Adherence

  • Ensuring meticulous adherence to all legislative requirements governing the schemes.

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Insurance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or Human Resource Management from a recognized institution.
  • Relevant professional qualifications.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body in good standing.
  • Profound understanding of pension laws and adeptness in interpretation and guidance.
  • Certification in Trustee Development Program Kenya (TDPK).
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of pertinent work experience, including at least three (3) years in a managerial/supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.

  • Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
  • Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
  • Clearance from the Ethics & Anti-corruption Authority (EACC).
  • Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).

All clearance certificates should be valid and current. EACC self-declaration should indicate the applied position. Original ID, Academic, and Professional Certificates are required during interviews.
