Position Overview
The Actuarial Products Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the development and management of our life insurance products. Reporting to the Actuarial Services Manager, this position is based at our Head Office in Madison House, Nairobi. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in actuarial science and experience with product development, valuations, and IFRS 17.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support Product Development
- Conduct pricing analysis to ensure product profitability.
- Regularly review insurance products to maintain profitability.
2. Experience Analysis
- Perform experience analysis to update actuarial assumptions.
- Provide actionable advice to enhance business strategies.
3. Technical Actuarial Models
- Develop and update technical actuarial models to support decision-making.
4. IFRS 17 Expertise
- Provide technical actuarial expertise on IFRS 17 implementation.
5. Asset Liability Matching
- Implement and regularly review asset liability matching strategies.
6. Statutory Valuations
- Perform statutory actuarial valuations and solvency calculations.
7. Business Analysis
- Assist with any additional analysis required by the business.
Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies
1. Educational Background
- University Degree in Actuarial Science or a related field.
2. Professional Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Life Actuarial function.
- Proven experience in product development, valuations, and IFRS 17.
3. Actuarial Exams
- Advanced progression with Actuarial exams (minimum of 7).
4. Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
