We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to be based at our Nairobi office. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the financial integrity of our operations.
Job Summary
The Accounts Assistant will play a key role in maintaining and updating the company’s financial records and supporting various accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, proficiency in financial software, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Key Responsibilities
As an Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations. Your primary duties include:
- Entering financial data into the accounting system with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
- Managing ledgers and supporting the company’s overall financial record-keeping efforts.
- Processing day-to-day cash payments and receipting transactions.
- Overseeing accounts payable, ensuring timely payments and vendor satisfaction.
- Preparing monthly Cashbook reconciliations to maintain an accurate financial overview.
- Assisting with month-end and year-end closings to ensure a smooth and accurate financial close process.
- Supporting financial audits by preparing and organizing necessary documentation.
- Maintaining and updating the Assets Register to track company assets.
- Performing additional financial tasks as assigned by the Financial Manager.
Your contribution will be essential in maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and supporting the company’s overall financial health.
Desired Qualifications and Competencies
To be successful in the role of Accounts Assistant, candidates should possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience. Previous audit experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with accounting software such as SAGE ERP and QuickBooks.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills that demonstrate an ability to resolve complex accounting issues.
- Ability to multitask across various accounting-related assignments, ensuring all tasks are completed effectively and on time.
