Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team and contribute to our mission. This role is vital in ensuring financial accuracy and accountability within our programs.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Documentation and Accountability

  • Prepare Accountability Documents: Ensure all medical facility accountability documents and requests are prepared accurately and consistently for documentation purposes.
  • Ensure Compliance: Verify that all expenditures meet donor compliance requirements as well as CFK policies and guidelines.
  • Budget Management: Ensure all expenses are within the approved budget.

Accounting System Management

  • Update Accounting System: Record project expenditures into the accounting system in a timely manner, ensuring expenses are logged under correct budget codes, account codes, and donor codes.
  • Proper Filing and Documentation: Maintain thorough filing, documentation, and recording of all facility incomes and expenditures.

Financial Reporting

  • Support Financial Reports: Assist in the preparation of financial reports and budgets.
  • Prepare Donor Schedules: Aid in the preparation of donor schedules.
  • Monthly Reports: Compile monthly reports for the facility and submit them to the Finance Lead by the 5th of every month.

Capacity Building and Advisory

  • Capacity Building: Support the capacity building of program/facility staff on grant, accountability, and reporting requirements.
  • Promote Transparency: Foster transparency and accountability in the use of the organization’s resources.
  • Provide Financial Advice: Offer advice on improving the finance function at CFK when required.

Miscellaneous

  • Event Support: Accompany the organization’s staff for events, outreaches, and other activities as needed.

Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or CPA Section 6.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a finance/accounting role in a reputable organization.
  • Proficiency: Proficiency in the QuickBooks accounting system.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Language: Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
  • Passion for Charity Work: A strong passion for charity work, especially within informal settlements.
