About the Role

The Accountant – Payables plays a crucial role in tracking cash flow and processing payments to vendors and suppliers. This role is vital for maintaining a company’s financial, administrative, and clerical functions, ensuring that the company meets its profitability goals. The position is integral to Haco Industries’ financial health and operations.


Key Responsibilities

As an Accountant – Payables, you will be responsible for the following:

  1. Manage the Accurate and Timely Booking of Invoices, Credit Notes, and Supplier Payments:
    Ensure all invoices, credit notes, and supplier payments are accurately recorded in the system, adhering to company policies and accounting standards.
  2. Perform Monthly Reconciliation of Supplier Accounts:
    Conduct monthly reconciliations of supplier accounts, document any discrepancies, and resolve them within 30 days to ensure accuracy and accountability.
  3. Timely Preparation of Supplier Payments:
    Prepare supplier payments promptly as per the agreed payment plans, ensuring smooth cash flow and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
  4. Process Relevant Tax Returns and Statutory Payments:
    Accurately and timely process all tax returns and statutory payments to comply with tax regulations and avoid penalties.
  5. Management and Monthly Reconciliation of VAT:
    Oversee the management and reconciliation of VAT 3 monthly, including follow-ups on pending VAT claims to ensure compliance and accurate tax reporting.
  6. Ensure Proper Accounting and Recording of Accounts Payable Transactions:
    Maintain accurate accounting records of all accounts payable transactions in the general ledger, following accounting standards.
  7. Reconcile Assigned General Ledger Accounts:
    Perform monthly reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts to ensure that all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
  8. Prepare Monthly Accounts Payable Reports:
    Generate and analyze monthly accounts payable reports, providing insights into the company’s financial obligations and liquidity.
  9. Implement and Maintain Proper Controls within the Accounts Payable Function:
    Establish and maintain effective internal controls within the accounts payable function to safeguard company resources and prevent financial discrepancies.
  10. Maintain Effective Communication and Positive Relationships with Suppliers:
    Foster and maintain strong communication and relationships with suppliers, ensuring all queries and issues are addressed promptly.
  11. Facilitate Annual Audits Related to the Accounts Payable Function:
    Assist in the preparation and facilitation of annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations to auditors.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in the role of Accountant – Payables, candidates should meet the following qualifications and skills:

  • Business-Related Undergraduate Degree:
    A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential.
  • Accounting Qualification, CPA Finalist:
    Candidates must have completed CPA (Certified Public Accountant) qualifications, preferably at the finalist level.
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software and MS Office Suite:
    Advanced proficiency in accounting software and the MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required to manage data efficiently.
  • Excellent Numerical Accuracy and Attention to Detail:
    A keen eye for detail and strong numerical accuracy are crucial for maintaining precise financial records.
  • Strong Time Management Skills:
    The ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks is essential for meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standards and Taxation Regulations:
    In-depth knowledge of accounting standards and local taxation regulations is necessary for compliance and accurate financial reporting.
  • At Least 3-Year Professional Experience in a Similar Position:
    A minimum of three years of experience in a similar accounting role is required, with a focus on accounts payable functions.
