Job Specification

Are you a skilled accountant with an eye for detail? We’re seeking a dedicated individual to join our team at NaMATA in the role of Accountant. As an entry-level position, you’ll work under the guidance of a Senior Officer, gaining valuable experience in financial management and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

Payment Processing Excellence

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing Payment Vouchers: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure seamless payment processing.
  • Imprests and Travel Advances: Efficiently process imprests and travel advances for staff members.
  • Cash Collections Supervision: Oversee cash collections, ensuring accurate balancing and reconciliation of cash books on a daily basis.
  • Accurate Posting Verification: Verify the accuracy of payment and receipt postings in the cashbook.
  • Safe Custody of Documents: Safeguard payment vouchers and approved journals for future reference.

Financial Records and Reporting

Your role will extend to managing financial records and facilitating reporting:

  • Creditor, Debtors, and General Ledgers: Keep creditor, debtor, and general ledgers up-to-date and accurate.
  • Timely Statutory Deduction Remittance: Ensure all statutory deductions are remitted punctually.
  • Sales Invoices and Verifications: Generate sales invoices, verify billing amounts, and facilitate prompt delivery.
  • Debt Collection and Reconciliation: Liaise with relevant departments for efficient debt collection and reconciliation.
  • Invoice Disputes Management: Handle and maintain files of disputed invoices for timely resolution.
  • Bank Accounts Reconciliation: Prepare monthly bank accounts reconciliations for precise financial reporting.

Qualifications for Appointment

To join our team as an Accountant, you need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Hold a degree in Commerce, Business Management, or Business Administration with an Accounting or Finance focus, from a recognized institution.
  • Tech-Savviness: Proficiency in computer skills to streamline financial processes.
  • Chapter Six (6) Requirements: Fulfill the criteria of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
