AIRPORT ACCOUNTANT (S7) – REF: F/ACT/AUGUST 2023

Job Title: Airport Accountant
Location: Nairobi

Job Purpose

As the Airport Accountant, your primary responsibility will be to strategically manage financial resources, ensuring efficient utilization and meticulous control within the airport environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

i. Payment Processing and Reconciliation You’ll lead the accurate and prompt processing of staff and vendor payments, along with comprehensive reconciliations.

ii. Auditing Coordination Coordinate annual internal and external audits for the department, ensuring rigorous financial scrutiny.

iii. Internal Controls Assurance Ensure that existing internal controls are meticulously maintained and adhered to by all stakeholders.

iv. Tax Compliance and Statutory Deductions Maintain a proactive approach to adhere to tax legislations and statutory deductions enforced in Kenya.

v. Asset Management Supervise the physical verification of non-current assets and work in progress, maintaining an up-to-date and precise asset register.

vi. Process Adherence Oversee the adherence to procedures, policies, and standards concerning non-current assets, taxation, staff payments, and general ledger management.

vii. Tariff Communication Effectively communicate tariff changes and related system adjustments to sales officers, ensuring compliance.

viii. Transaction Processing Ensure accurate and prompt billing and processing of all financial transactions.

Key Qualifications and Experience

i. Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting from a recognized institution

ii. Professional Certifications

  • Professional qualifications in Finance or Accounting, CPA(K) or equivalent qualification
  • Membership in Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (ICPAK) or related professional body in good standing

iii. Work Experience

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years in a managerial/supervisory position

iv. Technical Proficiency

  • Proficiency in Computer Applications

  • Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
  • Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  • Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  • Clearance from the Ethics & Anti-corruption Authority (EACC)
  • Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)

Clearance certificates should be valid and current.
