Key Responsibilities
Human Resource Objectives
- Recruitment & Training: Oversee the recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of marketing and sales staff.
- Team Management: Assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and discipline employees.
- Performance Management: Plan, monitor, appraise, and review job contributions.
- Policy Enforcement: Enforce policies and procedures to maintain operational standards.
Operational Objectives
- Strategic Planning: Contribute marketing and sales information to strategic plans and reviews.
- Action Plans: Prepare and complete action plans to achieve production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
- Problem Resolution: Resolve operational problems, complete audits, identify trends, and implement system improvements.
Financial Objectives
- Budgeting: Forecast requirements, prepare an annual budget, schedule expenditures, and analyze variances.
- Financial Analysis: Initiate corrective actions to meet financial goals.
Sales & Marketing Strategies
- Sales Quotas: Develop annual sales quotas for regions, forecast sales volume and profit for existing and new products.
- Pricing Strategies: Establish pricing strategies, recommend selling prices, and monitor costs, competition, supply, and demand.
Marketing & Promotions
- Programs: Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate advertising, merchandising, and trade promotion programs.
- Field Sales: Develop field sales action plans to achieve marketing and sales objectives.
Market Research & Development
- Market Opportunities: Identify marketing opportunities by understanding consumer requirements, defining market share, and analyzing competitor strengths and weaknesses.
- Product Development: Improve product marketability and profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities.
Client Relations
- Key Accounts: Sustain rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits and exploring specific needs.
- Customer Data: Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Business, Sales, and Marketing.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Marketing or Sales Management in the agrochemical or non-FMCG sector.
- Age: Preferably above 35 years.
- Driving License: Must have a valid Driving License (Class BCE) and be capable of driving a manual car.
- Skills: Fluent in English and Kiswahili, multilingual, with a good understanding of the agriculture sector and willingness to travel 80% of the time.
Skills and Experience
- Sales Expertise: Proven experience in selling farm chemicals or non-FMCG products to the agriculture sector.
- Team Management: Experience managing a team of 10+ salespeople.
- CRM Utilization: Proficiency in using CRM to manage sales tasks, pipeline, and closing.
- Presentation Skills: Ability to conduct PowerPoint presentations to large groups of farmers, growers, and stockists.
- Hiring and Coaching: Demonstrated ability to hire and coach high-performing salespeople.
