Introduction

Central Kenya Conference, a Seventh-day Adventist Church institution, is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Accountant to join its treasury department in Nairobi. Key Responsibilities

As an Accountant, your primary duties will include:

  • Managing and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and legal regulations.
  • Preparing financial statements, reports, and reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Utilizing accounting software, such as SunPlus System, for efficient financial management and reporting.
  • Handling accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Conducting audits and implementing robust internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
  • Analyzing financial data to identify trends, provide insights, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensuring proper budget management and providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with the treasury team to meet organizational goals.
  • Adhering to the values and ethical standards of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and demonstrate these skills:

Mandatory Requirements

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • CPA Part II qualification. CPA finalist status is an added advantage.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Computer literacy with advanced skills in MS Excel and MS Word.
    • Working knowledge of at least one accounting software; proficiency in SunPlus System is an advantage.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
    • High standards of ethics and values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A recommendation letter from your local Seventh-day Adventist Church pastor, confirming you are in good and regular standing.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with excellent communication skills.
