Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Relationship Manager, Islamic Banking, you will:

Business Growth

  • Achieve Islamic Banking Annual Business Growth Targets, including Revenue, Fees and Commissions, Profit Before Tax, Assets, Liabilities, and Customer Numbers.
  • Engage both existing and new-to-bank customers to expand the Islamic Banking portfolio.
  • Support the Head of Islamic Banking in strategizing and delivering business growth objectives.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain robust relationships with Islamic Banking Customers.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders and strategic banking partners to enhance the customer experience.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve complaints promptly, maintaining high standards of customer service management.

Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the Portfolio at Risk (PAR) for Islamic Banking Customers, ensuring it stays within annual targets.
  • Ensure efficient turnaround times for credit applications in the Islamic Banking segment.

Operational Efficiency

  • Maintain the operational costs of the Islamic Banking segment within the approved budget.
  • Uphold a strong monitoring and control framework, emphasizing business continuity, governance, and risk management.

Required Work Experience

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in corporate banking, banking operations, and customer service, with at least 2 years in Relationship Management.
  • A proven track record of achieving business growth and profitability targets in the financial services and banking sector.
  • Knowledge of the banking industry, including market trends, challenges, and statutory requirements.
  • Strong relationship management, negotiation, and team leadership skills.
  • The ability to innovate, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure.

Qualifications and Certifications

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
  • Professional certification in AKIB/CIB, CPA(K), or ACCA (preferred).
  • Master’s Degree in a business-related field is an added advantage.
  • Certifications in sales/marketing or membership in relevant bodies like the Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK) or Associate Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) are a plus.
