Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Social Impact Assessments: Perform comprehensive social impact assessments to evaluate the potential effects of infrastructure projects on local communities.
• Execute Social Surveys & Audits: Design and implement social surveys and audits to monitor and evaluate social safeguards during the construction phase.
• Resettlement Action Planning (RAP): Develop and oversee resettlement action plans to ensure the fair and ethical relocation of affected populations.
• Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all projects adhere to IFC performance standards, World Bank Social Safeguards, and AfDB social safeguard policies.
• Report Preparation: Draft detailed reports outlining social impact findings, mitigation strategies, and project progress.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between project teams, local communities, and relevant stakeholders.
• Business Development Support: Assist in preparing bids and proposals, contributing to the growth and expansion of the organization’s project portfolio.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Sociologist on infrastructure development projects.
• Practical experience in conducting Social Impact Assessments (SIA), Social Surveys, Audits, Monitoring/Supervision of Social Safeguards, and Resettlement Action Planning (RAP).
• Knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, World Bank Social Safeguards, and AfDB Safeguard Policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Membership with a relevant sociological body.
• Advanced Degree in Sociology or a related field.
