Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Auditor, you will:

• Manage Audit Assignments by leading risk-based audits and compliance audits in line with the Sacco’s Internal Audit Methodology.
• Prepare and Present Audit Reports that reflect the results of audit engagements conducted.
• Assist in Annual Audit Planning by preparing and delivering the annual internal audit plan.
• Provide Independent Assurance on internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
• Offer Valuable Advice on risk management and compliance when required.
• Identify Loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings.
• Protect Against Fraud and theft of the organization’s assets.
• Conduct Audit Issue Assurance by following up on audit issues to ensure appropriate management interventions.
• Guide on Emerging Compliance Matters related to operational, legal, and regulatory aspects.
• Design and Execute Audit Plans as per the audit methodology.
• Communicate Effectively with Auditees to improve the internal control environment.
• Conduct Comprehensive Data Analytics using tools like Advanced Excel, Power BI, and Caseware IDEA.
• Engage in Continuous Knowledge Development regarding sector rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.

• Promote Corporate Governance to facilitate effective and prudent management that can deliver long-term success for the organization.

Supervisory Roles

• Review Internal Auditors’ Audit Files and work programs.
• Lead Audits from planning to reporting stages.
• Supervise the Internal Audit Team to ensure timely delivery of the internal audit plan.

Client Relations Roles

• Ensure Efficient Information Flow to and from members and stakeholders, including banks, investment firms, and other related parties.
• Maintain the Sacco’s Image by fostering positive customer relations.
• Promote Safaricom Sacco Values of customer focus, integrity, reliability, and innovation.

Qualifications and Skills

Educational and Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a business-related course from a recognized institution.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) and membership with ICPAK.
• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) is an added advantage.

Experience

• At Least 5 Years’ Relevant Experience in internal auditing within the financial services industry or an audit firm.

Skills

• Solid Leadership Skills to manage and guide the audit team.
• Risk-Based Auditing Knowledge with familiarity in Global Internal Auditing Standards (GIS).
• Report Writing and Presentation Skills for effective communication of audit findings.
• Information Systems Auditing Skills for evaluating IT controls.
• Advanced Data Analytics Skills using tools like Power BI, Caseware IDEA, Tableau, or R.
