We are looking to recruit a highly skilled Anaesthetist to join our Clinical Department. In this role, you will collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and surgical success through the careful administration of anesthesia.
Job Summary
As an Anaesthetist at Imara Hospital, you will be responsible for the administration of anesthesia during surgical procedures. You will work closely with the surgical team, conducting thorough preoperative evaluations, administering appropriate anesthesia, monitoring patients throughout surgeries, and providing post-anesthesia care. You will also respond to emergency situations and be an integral part of the hospital’s critical care unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer anesthesia based on the specific needs of the patient and the type of surgery, including general anesthesia, spinal anesthesia, and other forms.
- Conduct thorough preoperative assessments to determine patient needs, medical history, and anesthesia risks.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all anesthesia care, from preoperative assessments to postoperative recovery.
- Monitor patient vital signs during surgical procedures and respond promptly to any intraoperative concerns or emergencies.
- Oversee the intubation of patients, especially in critical care situations.
- Manage postoperative care, ensuring that patients transition smoothly from anesthesia to wakefulness, and address any complications that may arise.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for anesthesia care improvement based on patient outcomes and new medical advancements.
- Participate in emergency resuscitation efforts when necessary, ensuring the highest standards of care in critical situations.
- Contribute to theater anaesthetic duties as assigned, providing support across various departments within the hospital.
Qualifications and Skills
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Anaesthesia
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) will be an added advantage
- Valid Practice License
- Proficiency in computer applications for medical records and patient documentation
Experience:
- At least three years of experience as an Anaesthetist in a busy hospital setting, demonstrating proficiency in administering various forms of anesthesia and managing critical care patients.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with patients and surgical teams.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills to coordinate care with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Strong customer service skills and a commitment to providing compassionate care.
- Good interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and colleagues, ensuring a positive work environment.
