Job Overview

South-End Tech Limited is offering an exciting Graduate Recruitment Internship opportunity for individuals passionate about data governance and analytics. This six-month internship will focus on preparing candidates to thrive in the field of Data Governance by supporting our Data Protection Services (DPS) teams. Interns will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various data governance and management functions while working closely with seasoned professionals.

As a Data Governance Analyst (DGA) Intern, you will play a critical role in ensuring data integrity, privacy, and security, while also helping our clients enhance their data governance practices. This position is a perfect fit for someone looking to develop their skills in data analytics and governance within a highly supportive and professional environment.


Key Responsibilities

Data Exploration and Management

  • Explore and identify data sources from multiple platforms, including databases, third-party vendors, and social media.
  • Document data transformations, such as calculations, filtering, and structuring, and visualize the flow using diagrams or flowcharts.
  • Apply quality methods to ensure data is cleaned, formatted, and standardized for analytical purposes.

Visualization and Reporting

  • Design and develop custom visualizations to showcase analysis findings using tools like Qlik Sense, Power BI, and Tableau.
  • Trace data movement from its origin to its final destination, ensuring accuracy and consistency in the data flow.
  • Validate data flow maps with stakeholders to ensure that all processes adhere to the company’s data governance standards.

Risk Identification and Management

  • Identify potential risks and gaps in data governance, including security vulnerabilities and data quality issues.
  • Assess privacy risks associated with data processing, evaluating their impact and likelihood to prioritize and mitigate risks effectively.

Collaboration and Compliance

  • Establish a close working relationship with the Data Protection Services team to support compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Support the implementation of continuous auditing and monitoring processes, ensuring the highest data quality and integrity.

Knowledge Sharing and Process Improvement

  • Promote digital automation and analytics, driving efficiency in both client-facing and internal processes.
  • Share knowledge, skills, and best practices with other team members to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Document all data governance processes to ensure a clear understanding of data handling within the organization.

Qualifications and Skills

Educational Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Information Systems, or a related technical field from a recognized university is required.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Alteryx, IDEA, or ACL.
  • Familiarity with visual communication tools like Qlik Sense, Power BI, QlikView, or Tableau.
  • Strong knowledge of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) frameworks and tools, particularly in the context of data governance and auditing.

Professional Competencies

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, managing multiple priorities and responsibilities in a matrixed organizational structure.
  • Understanding of risk management principles within information systems governance.
  • High work standards with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Client-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering quality results under tight deadlines.

Certifications

  • Membership in a professional body such as ISACA is a plus but not mandatory.
