Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) is a State Corporation operating under the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy. Established under the KBC Act (Cap. 221), KBC is mandated to deliver excellence in broadcast services across Radio, Television, and Digital Media Platforms. As part of its ongoing mission to inform, educate, and entertain the public, KBC is offering exciting internship opportunities in several departments. This is a great chance for young professionals to gain valuable work experience in the media industry.

KBC is seeking to engage six (6) interns for a maximum (non-renewable) period of twelve (12) months. Below are the details of the available internship positions, along with the basic requirements.


Available Internship Positions

1. Technical Services Department (Transmission/Production) – 1 Position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of broadcasting equipment.
  • Work on the production and transmission of television and radio content.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving in broadcasting technology.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Diploma in Telecommunication or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Must be computer literate with hands-on skills in technical tools.
  • Knowledge in transmission and production processes is a plus.

2. Television Programmes Department (Design) – 1 Position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating graphic designs for television programs.
  • Work on the production of 3D graphic elements.
  • Collaborate with the production team on visual branding.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Diploma in Graphic Design or 3D Graphic Design from a recognized institution.
  • Must be computer proficient in relevant design software.
  • Creativity and innovativeness are essential for this role.

3. Radio Services Department (Creative) – 1 Position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support content creation for radio programs.
  • Assist in scriptwriting, audio editing, and radio production.
  • Collaborate with on-air talent to develop engaging radio segments.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Diploma in Journalism, Mass Communication, or Broadcast Journalism from a recognized institution.
  • Must be computer literate with a good grasp of digital audio tools.
  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili, with strong communication, writing, and analytical skills.

4. Digital Department – 2 Positions

Key Responsibilities (Web Development Focus):

  • Assist in the design and development of websites and digital platforms.
  • Work on the development of mobile applications and software solutions.
  • Collaborate on social media management and content distribution.

Minimum Requirements (Web Development Focus):

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience in Web Development, Software Development, Mobile App Development, or Database Development.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital tools.

Key Responsibilities (Media Focus):

  • Assist in creating digital content, including blogging, editing, and multimedia production.
  • Contribute to social media strategies and content scheduling.
  • Support the management of digital media campaigns and initiatives.

Minimum Requirements (Media Focus):

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Diploma in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Public Relations, or Graphic Design from a recognized institution.
  • Must possess strong writing, blogging, and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with digital platforms and social media strategies is required.

5. Legal Department – 1 Position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the drafting and reviewing of legal documents.
  • Support in the preparation of legal reports and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Collaborate with senior legal officers on contract management and other legal matters.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized institution.
  • Must be computer literate with excellent drafting, report writing, and organizational skills.

General Internship Requirements

In addition to the specific requirements for each department, candidates must meet the following general requirements:

  • Be Kenyan youth aged between 21 and 34 years.
  • Have graduated from a college or university no earlier than 2019.
  • Submit all required documentation, including:
    • Copies of certificates and academic transcripts.
    • Updated curriculum vitae (CV).
    • National identity card or passport.
  • Successful candidates must also provide the following documents upon selection:
    • Personal accident insurance cover for the entire internship period.
    • Medical insurance cover (NHIF/SHIF or a reputable insurance provider).
    • PIN certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
    • NSSF card.
    • Two colored passport photographs.
    • Bank account details.
    • Recommendation/reference letter from the educational institution attended.
    • Certificate of Good Conduct.
