As a Project Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting these initiatives, ensuring that our goals align with the needs of the local community and stakeholders.


Job Summary

Rio Fish seeks a highly organized and proactive Project Coordinator to support the day-to-day activities of our aquaculture programs. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth coordination between Rio Fish, fish farmers, and vendors in the Lake Victoria region. The successful candidate will oversee training sessions, evaluate the program’s impact, and offer ongoing support to trainees, helping them to implement best practices and grow their businesses. Key responsibilities include training coordination, monitoring program outcomes, and maintaining relationships with local fish farmers and vendors.


Key Responsibilities

1. Training Coordination

  • Act as the primary point of contact for Rio Fish trainees, ensuring all training sessions are well-coordinated and executed on time.
  • Organize logistics for training sessions, including venue arrangements, scheduling, and transportation for participants.
  • Provide progress updates to stakeholders on project timelines, training results, and milestones to ensure transparency and project alignment.

2. Impact Evaluation

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs, gathering data on how the training impacts the trainees’ businesses.
  • Adjust training methodologies as needed, based on participant feedback, to improve outcomes.

3. Follow-Up with Trainees

  • Conduct regular follow-up sessions with trainees to evaluate the application of knowledge and skills learned during training.
  • Offer mentorship and support to help trainees implement and adapt their newly learned techniques into their business models.

4. Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, including attendance, participant progress, and overall outcomes of the training programs.
  • Submit detailed reports on training activities, participant feedback, and program impact to Rio Fish’s management.

5. Relationship Management

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with trainees, ensuring open communication and fostering an environment of trust and collaboration.
  • Work closely with fish farmers and vendors to identify their challenges and provide the necessary support to overcome obstacles.

6. Technology and Innovation

  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in aquaculture technology and introduce innovative solutions that can improve efficiency.
  • Oversee the implementation of cutting-edge technology such as water quality monitoring systems and data management tools in the aquaculture value chain.
  • Propose improvements to existing farm infrastructure to ensure long-term sustainability and scalability.

7. Project Reporting and Documentation

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Keep detailed records on farm operations, including fish production rates, feed conversion ratios, and water quality data.
  • Prepare regular reports on project progress, operational efficiency, and financial performance to present to senior management.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aquaculture, fisheries science, marine biology, agricultural management, or a related field.
  • Additional knowledge in basic accounting and finance is an advantage.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in aquaculture projects, preferably involving fish farming operations.
  • Proven project management experience, including planning, budgeting, and coordinating teams.
  • Experience working in community engagement, managing fish health, water quality control, and promoting sustainable farming practices is highly preferred.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficient in problem-solving with a focus on resource management and operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with aquaculture technologies, including data management tools and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent financial management skills, including experience with budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Trello).

  • Flexible working hours may be necessary, especially during critical project phases like harvesting or emergencies.
