Job Summary

As a Business Development Officer, you will be responsible for managing business development in a designated territory, gaining new clients, maintaining existing ones, developing new loans, ensuring prompt payment of loans, and designing and implementing control measures and monitoring plans for compliance and operation risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Develop New Loan Products

  • Achieve volume and value targets to contribute to the overall goals of the MFI.
  • Build sound relationships with company business partners, vendors, and customers.
  • Create new business opportunities by seeking new clients.
  • Conduct loan assessments, appraisals, and approvals.

Marketing and Sales

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan for the company’s products and business.
  • Ensure prompt loan repayments and recoveries.

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Create financial projections for growth and profitability.
  • Track and analyze microfinance and economic trends and provide recommendations to the MFI.
  • Analyze applicants’ financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine the feasibility of granting loans.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Review and update credit/loan files.
  • Liaise with other service providers to gather marketing intelligence.
  • Analyze potential loan markets and develop referral networks to locate loans.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience & Competencies Required

Educational Background

  • Diploma in a business-related field.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and discretion when dealing with people and records.
  • High integrity and dependability.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships in a multi-functional environment.
  • Excellent presentation skills, including oral communication skills, with a passion for making oneself understood and engaging in a pleasant manner.
