Key Responsibilities of a Credit Officer

Loan Processing & Credit Analysis

  • Advise members on suitable loan facilities and educate them on responsible borrowing.
  • Evaluate loan applications based on financial policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all loan documentation.
  • Analyze creditworthiness using risk assessment tools and financial reports.
  • Generate loan appraisal reports and provide recommendations to the Branch Credit Committee.

Loan Portfolio Management & Compliance

  • Monitor the loan portfolio to maintain high-quality credit standards.
  • Ensure compliance with SASRA regulations and other financial guidelines.
  • Conduct due diligence and site visits for verification of loan applicants.
  • Track loan disbursements and ensure timely processing to customer accounts.
  • Recommend loan restructuring options for clients facing repayment challenges.

Loan Recovery & Delinquency Management

  • Follow up on loan repayments and implement effective recovery strategies.
  • Negotiate repayment arrangements with members facing financial distress.
  • Issue default notices in compliance with Stima DT Sacco’s loan policies.
  • Liaise with external debt collectors to facilitate recovery of delinquent loans.
  • Submit defaulter lists for CRB listing and delisting as per regulatory requirements.

Customer Relations & Advisory Services

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Sacco members, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Handle customer complaints and provide effective resolutions.
  • Educate customers on Stima DT Sacco’s financial products and services.
  • Promote repeat loan generation through excellent customer service.

Qualifications & Skills Required

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA or Credit Professional Certificate (added advantage).

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years in credit management, loan processing, or financial services.

Technical & Soft Skills

  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to analyze credit risk.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess financial statements and loan applications.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for handling clients.
  • Attention to detail in documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to write complex reports and provide credit recommendations.
